What is PlutusTravel?
PlutusTravel is an exciting new way to make the most of your PLU! It lets you redeem PLU for cashback on hotel bookings directly within the app. Whether you’re planning a quick weekend getaway or a longer stay abroad, you can turn your PLU into memorable stays while saving money.
When will everyone have access to PlutusTravel?
All users have access to PlutusTravel as of 24th December 2024. However, the current version is available in GBP only. EU customers will incur a standard FX charge when using their Plutus Card, with EUR access expected in Q1 2025.
When will everyone have access to PlutusTravel?
All users will get access to PlutusTravel. However, we’re introducing it gradually to ensure a smooth experience for everyone. While we don’t have a specific date for the full rollout just yet, rest assured we’re working hard to bring this feature to all customers as soon as possible.
How does it work?
The process is quick and easy:
- Browse Hotels: Log in to the Plutus app, go to Swaps → Travel → Hotels, and explore a wide range of accommodation options.
- Book Your Stay: Once you’ve found a hotel you like, proceed with the payment and complete the booking. You can use any payment method.
- Redeem PLU for Cashback: After confirming your stay, you’ll be redirected to the PLU redemption screen—proceed and select the cashback.
- Receive Cashback: After your stay, you’ll automatically receive fiat cashback to your Plutus account—approximately 2 months after your check-out date.
Booking & Cancellations
Can I cancel or change my booking after redeeming PLU?
Any changes or cancellations to your booking will depend on the hotel’s cancellation policy.
You can view the hotel cancellation policy by visiting the PlutusTravel Vault and checking the individual booking details. If it's not possible to change the dates of your booking. As an alternative, we recommend you create a new booking with the desired information and cancel this one.
Please reach out to Plutus or the hotel to cancel your reservation. By cancelling the booking, you will no longer be able to check in. This action cannot be undone. Refunds can take up to 14 days.
Is there a fee for cancellations?
Yes, canceling a booking will incur a 10% cancellation fee, charged by Plutus, based on the total cost of the booking. This fee is deducted from your refund and is separate from any potential fees charged by the hotel.
What is the hotel’s refund policy?
Hotel refund policies vary, so we recommend checking in-app for your chosen hotel cancellation and refund policy. If your cancellation is approved, any cashback earned will be canceled as you no longer have a booking, and the PLU used for the booking will be returned to your account. Be sure to review the hotel’s cancellation policy carefully before proceeding.
Where can I locate my PlutusTravel bookings?
You can find all your previous PlutusTravel bookings in the PlutusTravel Vault. Here’s how to access it:
- Log in to the Plutus App.
- Navigate to Swaps → Travel → Hotels
- Tap on PlutusTravel Vault to view your bookings.
Cashback & Payments
Do I have to pay with my Plutus Card?
No, you don’t have to use your Plutus Card. However, the card used for payment must be in your name. Regardless of the payment method used for your hotel booking, your cashback will always be transferred to your Plutus account.
Where will I receive my PlutusTravel cashback?
Your cashback will be sent directly to your Plutus account.
When will I receive my PlutusTravel cashback?
You will receive your cashback up to two months after your hotel checkout date. Please note that timeframes may vary slightly. If after two months you have still not received your cashback, contact support and we will assist you. Please provide us your:
- Hotel booking reference (found in-app)
- Check-in & check-out dates
Availability & Limits
Is PlutusTravel available to all users?
The Dec 2024 release is only for UK customers, EU customers will see them gaining access from Jan 2025 onwards.
The functionality has a phased release schedule. If you have not yet gained access, we kindly ask for your patience as it will be rolled out to you in due course.
What hotel options are available?
To explore the full list, simply check the Plutus app.
Is there a limit to how many times I can use PlutusTravel?
No, there’s no limit! You can redeem PLU for cashback on hotels and accommodation as many times as you like, but do be aware there is a booking cap.
What is a booking cap?
This is the maximum amount for a unique travel booking to qualify for cashback. Please note that PLU redemptions are not cumulative—only one redemption can be applied per booking, up to its maximum cap.
How much PLU do I need to redeem?
It depends on the cost of your stay! The more PLU you redeem, the higher your booking cap—this determines the maximum amount eligible for cashback.
For example:
- 5 PLU = 10% cashback, up to a £1,000 booking cap
- 10 PLU = 10% cashback, up to a £5,000 booking cap
- 20 PLU = 10% cashback, up to a £10,000 booking cap
This means the cashback rate (e.g., 10%) stays the same, but the total cashback you can earn depends on your chosen booking cap. If you’re planning a longer or more expensive stay, you may want to redeem more PLU for a higher booking cap.
We recommend checking your expected booking amount and selecting the option that best matches it. For the most accurate figures, please check the Plutus app before redeeming your PLU.
Can I redeem my external PLU?
No, you can only redeem PLU available within the Plutus App. PLU in a connected wallet cannot be redeemed for utilities.
Fees & Costs
Is there a service fee?
No, there are no service fees for PlutusTravel. Simply redeem your PLU after booking and enjoy your cashback.
How much cashback can I get?
The cashback amount varies depending on the stay, typically ranging between 10-15%. For exact offers, check within the app before completing a swap.
